Gearing up for our Teens Talk Textiles: Fashion at the Crossroads of Cultures exhibit opening March 8, LESGC hosted Tsewang Chuskit for a day of global arts. Chuskit is from Ladakh, India where our partner Siddhartha School is located; she led a multicultural female empowerment art project making Buddhist style prayer flags. Sharing her bravery as a feminist and health educator in her rural, conservative community, Chuskit taught us about daily life, female health concerns, fighting for equality and freedom from harassment, and cultural norms in Ladakh. We made Prayer Flags to be shared with girls in Ladakh with messages of hope, and wishes for a better life with equality for all women.
