“Zach’s Ceremony” at the Margaret Mead Film Festival

Members of our Explore program took a trip to the Margaret Mead Film Festival to see the world premier Zach’s Ceremony. This documentary follows the life of a young Aboriginal boy as he navigates identity at the intersections of race, culture, and gender in Australia.

After the film, the girls got a personal pep talk from the filmmaker, Alec Doomadgee, encouraging them to create the change they wish to see in the world.

We were excited to welcome the production team behind Zach’s Ceremony to visit the Girls Club the following day. They honored us with a gift of their tribal flag.
