Hester Street Fair’s Girl Power Fair is back for its fourth edition on June 15th with the best and the boldest womxn in New York! Our beloved Girl Power event is proud to showcase a line up of owned and operated businesses, vendors, artists, and performers—a packed day powered by womxn!
Charitable Partners
Lower East Side Girls Club Hester Street Fair has partnered again with The Lower Eastside Girls Club of NY which provides a place where middle school and high school girls can grow, learn, have fun, and develop confidence in themselves and their ability to make a difference in the world. By delivering strong arts, literacy, science, health and leadership programs we provide girls with the vision to plan – and the tools to build – their future. The Lower Eastside Girls Club will have a Made By Us booth and Hester Street Fair will be making and collecting donations.
Special Features
What is Girl Power: We collectively take a look at What is Girl Power through self-expression and individuality. Hester Street Fair will provide paper & supplies in our workshop tent to write, draw and color “What Is Girl Power”. Once finished each participant will pin their paper to a wall and we will take a moment to review before the finale of the day. What is Girl Power will later be assembled in the form of a zine and sold with the profits going to LES Girls Club.
Hester Street Fair Girl Power Year Book: Highlighting our first three years of Girl Power street fair all proceeds from this book will go to Planned Parenthood
Documenting the Nameplate is an open-call archiving project that celebrates nameplate jewelry and its myriad styles and cultural traditions. Have your nameplate jewelry scanned and yourself be photographed to be part of their upcoming publication.
Possible Worlds + Foster Pride NYC will be selling their own screen printed and customizable merchandise! The girls will be turning their booth into an on-site DIY craft station and will be showcasing their very fine skills and craftsmanship.
Avenue DJ Girls learn the fundamentals of DJing from using turntables to scratch and manipulate sounds to using professional DJ software like Serato DJ to create blends and mixes of their favorite music. Creating confidence and enhanced motor and musical skills are some of the many benefits of this popular program.
Pantyhoes Collective is a community of woman/non-binary artists who stick it to the man (but respect him at the same damn time.) Their goal is to effect positive change around the way women see themselves and their ability to create meaningful work, and they’re giving us a comedy show!
Du-Good Press is offering onsite screen printing. Get a limited tote bag from us and she’ll make it look great! Or, feel free to bring a tee or tote of your own.
What to Eat
Monica Vannasing with Sianstreetfood is living out her passion with us and is bringing an authentic mix of flavors that make up Southeast Asia using only fresh ingredients.
