Poetry Electric at La MaMa

This is an evening you can’t miss. The youth have something to say so come out and hear it!
The Lower Eastside Girls Club brings an evening of poems, spoken word, and stories written and presented by the amazing members of the LES Girls Club. Let them take you on a journey of the issues they face and embrace. Gun violence, social injustice, Women’s Rights, Black Lives Matter, prison reform, LGBTQ acceptance…
Also performing: the Girls Club Avenue DJs.
They will spin some tunes to add to the evening’s powerful message.

The Poetry Electric fuses music, movement, sound, and dance with the spoken word and presents artists working in a wide range of styles including beatboxing, jazz and hip-hop theatre. This series has presented over 200 emerging poets from diverse cultural backgrounds.
