It's In The Cards: Thoughts on TarotThe Lower Eastside Girls Club at Art on Paper Fair Our Artist-in-Residence, Courtney Alexander, focuses her work on representation, using tarot cards as one of her many mediums. For the past few months, Courtney —in collaboration with our Girls Club teaching artists, Megan Kindsfather and Lenora Thornton — worked with our members to create their own interpretations of the cards using mixed media and photography. Over the duration of the class, Courtney provided a space for the girls to honor and learn about themselves through the lens of storytelling. She also constructed an altar which will be on display at our Art on Paper exhibit. Art on Paper 2020 marks the expansion of the fair's reach into the international collecting community and the renewal of important partnerships with Brooklyn Museum, Lower Eastside Girls Club, and the city's most inspiring cultural institutions.
